One of the most popular free summer music offerings is the Nashville Symphony’s community concert series.
The concerts, which offers six outdoor performances at various outdoor locations in June, is a perfect chance to see (and hear) the award-winning orchestra in action.
These family-friendly events, which feature a mix of classical and popular favorites, have been offered every summer since 1974. All are free.
The concerts are about an hour long and designed to appeal to all ages. Most of them also include the Symphony’s Musical Petting Zoo as part of the evening.

Symphony officials say offering the free community concerts is part of their mission to make great music accessible to everyone in the region.
“We strive to ensure that everyone in Middle Tennessee has the opportunity to experience the Nashville Symphony as much as possible, and these concerts are one of the best ways to do that,” said spokesman Dave Filipe.
“Whether you’re a veteran of the symphony’s summer concerts or have never attended one before, we encourage everyone to join us for another year of incredible performances in these unique settings throughout our community.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics to the performances, which will be conducted by either principal pops conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez or assistant conductor Nathan Aspinall.
