Amid the Coronavirus Chaos, One Airline Owner Is Flying High—For Now


While the coronavirus crisis has been causing chaos for airlines and shippers, one Korean transportation conglomerate has been flying high amid a family feud. The drama may not end well for investors.

The conglomerate, Hanjin KAL, the largest shareholder in Korean Air Lines and logistics company Hanjin Transportation, has seen its stock surge 51% this year even as the wider Korean market and global transportation stocks have both dropped more than 10% over the same period.
